At La Escuelita Arcoiris our philosophy is that children learn best by doing.  This means that all our activities are hands-on.  We create a curriculum based on the various areas of learning and implement them in a wide variety of methods.  Children are not taught a second language but rather they are immersed in Spanish language and culture and learn through activities and experiences guided by their teachers.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the children are supervised at all times.
  • Act as a liaison between the children and parents addressing problems and answering questions regarding the children. 
  • Create a stimulating environment for the child by conducting developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Interact with and provide guidance and care to all children within the school.
  • Change diapers and/or assist children with their toilet needs while adhering to hand washing procedures.
  • Demonstrate quality teaching by ensuring curriculum is followed, lesson plans are effectively used and child assessment tools measure class activity success.
  • Greet each child and parent upon arrival at school.
  • Develop strong relationships with families to enhance learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Encourage classroom participation and positive interaction with other children.
  • Redirect undesirable behavior to promote positive socialization.
  • Represent La Escuelita Arcoiris in a highly professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure appropriate set-up and shut-down of classroom on a daily basis.  
  • Act as a liaison between teachers and parents addressing problems and answering questions regarding all aspects of La Escuelita Arcoiris operations when the Director and/or Administrative staff is not available.
  • Attend monthly teacher trainings/meetings and any other required trainings.
  • Participate in La Escuelita Arcoiris community events as necessary.
  • Keep the classroom in order, projects cleaned up and organized.
  • Spend time outside of the classroom enriching his/her knowledge of early childhood learning.
  • In conjunction with co-teacher, will send home a student review in October and then conduct student assessments twice a year and be available to meet parents during bi-annual parent/teacher conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job requirements:
  • Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Teachers Aid (FT and PT) - An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or equivalent work experience and educational goals.
  • Lead Teachers (FT) - A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Two years of experience working in an established early childhood education program.

Work schedule:  La Escuelita Arcoiris operates from 7:30 am until 6 pm Monday through Friday twelve months a year with the exception of federal holidays.  We are filling both PT and FT positions during these hours.  Positions are available immediately.
