We
are excited to say that we have 'broken ground' on the renovation of our current outdoor play yard space into what will become
our 'Outdoor Classroom', a concept based on the Nature Explore program co-developed by The Arbor Day Foundation and Dimensions
Educational Research Foundation. The Nature Explore program applies research based, field tested principles to the design of outdoor learning environments to enhance children’s
learning through interacting and connecting with nature.

Nature Explore classrooms follow a set of principles
to insure that the space is well-designed such as: utilize natural materials; choose elements of durability and low maintenance;
maximize beauty and visual clarity; and personalize the design with regional materials and ideas from children and staff,
to name a few. Our 'Outdoor Classroom' will be divided into clearly delineated areas for different kinds
of activities such as, nature art, climbing, building, music and movement, gardening, and gathering.
The benefits to the young children at LEA are countless but we
also believe that the current space will be visually enhanced by a thoughtful design using natural materials, flowers and
plants.
