Language for Life

Alumni Afterschool Tuesdays

The afterschool program is offered to graduating students who want to continue their language immersion in a familiar non-threatening atmosphere.  We want them to be able to maintain what it is they gained so rapidly in their early years.

We continue teaching with a constructivist philosophy.  The older that they get, the more structured a child's schedule and schooling becomes.  We know that children constructing their own learning will learn more deeply.  There is flexibility in the planning of our program and each child's interests and strengths are considered.

We want our returning students to feel like they are coming 'home' to a familiar place where they have the power to further their knowledge of the Spanish language in the familiar atmosphere of dailing living.

We offer four different workshops during the course of the school year.   During which you can expect your child to write, read, play games and create art while using their Spanish vocabulary.  They meet on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 5:30 pm at Escuelita.

Escuelita Staff and Alumni experience true language and cultural immersion!

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Escuelita recently sent two teachers and two alumni students on a
true
immersion experience in Granada, Nicaragua.

During tIMG_1916heir three week stay, the group lived and interacted with a small community eager to share their culture and language.

The project, initiated through Building New Hope, has a dual mission: to provide a true Spanish immersion experience for La Escuelita students, while helping expand the horizons of a small community of learners in Nicaragua.  The outcome was that "both groups came out transformed."
